D'Banj Wins Best African Act In MTV Europe Music Award
Nigerian music star Daniel Oyebanjo, aka D’Banj, has been named the Best African Act of the MTV Europe
Music Awards for 2012. The singer received more votes from music fans
across sub-Saharan Africa to emerge the winner in that category, beating
other nominees, including Wizkid and Sarkodie.
In another development, D’Banj’s pal and boss of GOOD
Music, Kanye West, went home with seven awards, including Best Live
Performer and Producer of the Year, Black Entertainment Television Hip
Hop Awards in Atlanta, USA.
Another artiste on the GOOD Music stable, 2 Chainz,
won three trophies, including the People’s Champ Award and Rookie of the
Year, as well as performing at the show.
Hosted by US funnyman Mike Epps, the BET Hip Hop
Awards delivered an exceptional night filled with hip hop’s biggest
stars and interesting performances from Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, Young
Jeezy, Meek Mill, Kirko Bangz, Rick Ross, Omarion, TI, Future, Diddy,
Uncle Luke.
Closing out the show with pure star power, Violator
artistes reunited on stage in honour of late music mogul, Chris Lighty; A
Tribe Called Quest, Missy Elliot, Busta Ryhmes, Spliff Star, 50 Cent
and Joe, paid their respects during an unforgettable performance with
some of Violator Music’s biggest hits and Chris Lighty’s personal
favourites.
